Welcome to Church of the Ascension

Jesus' teaching that God's presence and blessing can often arrive in places we least expect.  He shares that it is among the humble, those wo mourn, and the peacemakers that the Kingdom of God can be seen.  In reflecting on these verses we are not just looking at a list of rules, but rather a vision for the Christian way of life.  A life where righteousnes is defined by right relationship with God and our neighbours.  From the familiar comfort of the Lord's Prayer to the radical call to love our enemies, these teachings challenge us to live with single-minded devotion in the "here and now".

Scripture, Tradition, Reason

We recognize the importance of tradition and reason in seeking to understand what it is that Scripture is saying.

We do not put reason or tradition over Scripture since it is the ultimate authority.
